Nouveau Country Is Better Than No Country At All!
Welcome to the new and improved “Gone Country T Shirts” website. We are here for one reason. We love country music. Well..two reasons. We love country music and we love t-shirts! Combine them both and…it’s a fashion party! Gone Country T-Shirts are for the born and bred country girls and boys (you look good in my shirt!) and for the thousands and thousands (millions? It could be!) of citi-fied and urban-suburban music lovers who are country music converts. We are rock and roll renegades who found that country music speaks to us…rather than swears at us like some of todays music. And… line dancing is fun and who among us doesn’t love to “rock that cowboy hat” once in a while? Now some of us…well many of us, actually… didn’t grow up listening to country music. Oh sure…there were certainly a few songs that had a country feel to them. Ringo Starr with the Beatles sang “Act Naturally” but here is a great version by Ringo and the Buck Owens!…Act Naturally (Now…that’s old time country!) And who doesn’t remember that great song “Ode To Billy Joe” by Bobby Gentry back in 67? Give a listen… Ode To Billy Joe Sweeet song, huh? And how about “I Remember You” by Frank Ifield back in 1962? Check it out… I Remember You Yet another great song! …Somebody stop me!!! And… “Detroit City” by Bobby Bare from 1963! Here it is… Detroit City But in many parts of the country those great country songs and many like them were pushed aside by radio stations of the day in favor of the British Invasion and the hit machine called Motown. But todays fabulous country music has brought many of us back to country music and the country lifestyle! And we are lovin’ it! Country stars big and small are sellin’ out concerts in every part of the country and rackin’ up hit records and downloads on iTunes. The CMA’s are more fun to watch than the Grammy’s. And who the hell does Kanye West think he is? Truth be told… most of us don’t live on a ranch. In fact …most of us have never even been on a ranch! And most of us have never gone “muddin”…whatever that is. The prospect of riding a horse on an endless trail is a dream. Can’t think of a better way to spend a day. The lucky few who get to do that on a regular basis are well…Lucky!
So now the fun begins… joining two diverse yet very similar groups of people…true country girls and boys and a whole boatload (millions?) of vicarious country girls and boys…who have…GONE COUNTRY! …together to enjoy something that’s truly original and all American…Country Music! Stay tuned!
Next time…Why is Andy Griffith so darn cool and what exactly is “muddin?”
